A limited-time Victorian Government rebate is currently available for eligible vehicle owners, providing a 20% refund on registration fees (capped at $186 per vehicle). While modest, this may be relevant if your vehicles are registered in your personal name.

Key considerations for the 20% registration rebate
- Personal vehicles under 4.5 tonnes, including cars, utes, motorcycles and light vans
- Available for up to two vehicles registered in your personal name
- Vehicles held in individual names (including work vehicles) may be eligible
- Vehicles registered to companies or other entities are excluded
When can you apply?
Applications are open between 1 June and 31 July 2026 and apply to vehicle registrations paid between 1 July 2025 and 30 June 2026.
How to apply for the rebate?
Applications are managed directly through Service Victoria. You will need to:
- Create or log in to a Service Victoria account
- Complete the application online or via the app
- Provide Australian bank account details for payment
- Await confirmation via email once assessed
Most payments are processed within 30 days of lodging your claim, with payments made directly into your bank account. If you’ve paid your registration fee after this rebate program started, your payment may take longer to process.
